Hi friends! Welcome to the online platform of 44 East! We are Cheryl and Kayloni; the mother-daughter duo who own 44 East Boutique. We are so happy that you found us! One of the questions we get asked often is, “How did 44 East begin?”. We are here to tell you! Grab a cup of coffee and get comfy.
It was December of 2017 when we found a home for rent located in Meridian, ID. We had the idea of opening a home and gift shop! That day, we called the landlord and signed a lease within a week. WOW! Now what? We were informed by another retail store owner that we needed to attend the “market”. We didn’t know what market was, where it was or what it entailed. We learned quickly. Within 3 weeks, we had our license, our retail permit, we were registered with the state and ready to attend this crazy “market” adventure. We were officially a business with inventory on its way!
After being in the house for one year, we had the opportunity of moving 44 East to downtown Meridian. Even though the space was only a mile down the way, we were excited as it would provide foot traffic for us and the ability to be a part of a growing downtown area with other local businesses.
Two years into this business and Covid came along. YIKES! In April of 2020, we were struggling to make our rent. We were forced to close our doors for a few weeks and truly didn't know what to expect. We had two options, one being, to sell everything and walk away. The second option was to create an online live sale platform for our customers. This is when “Live @ 5” was created. We initially called this “Live @ 5 to Survive”. This was our chance to make it. Since 2020, the live sales have continued every Tuesday with one surprise live a week! This has completely changed our business model.
Our customers are our most valuable item. Sincerely, the relationships that have planted and grown throughout our four years in business mean everything to us. The live shows have developed a virtual platform in which we feel we know each individual personally while some we have never met face to face. They have indeed allowed us to continue to thrive and move forward in our crazy little business. Our mission, on the live sales, in our brick and mortar, and on our online platform is to bring joy to each and every person we encounter and sell to.
